Position: Publishing Assistant / Frontline Receptionist (NB Publishers)
Reports to: Office Manager
Location: Cape Town
NB Publishers has an exciting permanent position available for a dedicated professional to work in a hybrid role as a Publishing Assistant / Frontline Receptionist. This unique position combines the essential responsibilities of managing the reception area with the dynamic duties of supporting our publishing endeavours.
NB Publishers is a leading local publishing house dedicated to creating books that are relevant, that entertain and inspire, and that educate and inform. We publish fiction, non-fiction and educational books, dictionaries, and books for children and young adults.
What you’ll do:
- Editorial project management: assist publishers with basic administration and coordination of publishing projects, including liaising with freelancers and authors
- Assist with ad hoc tasks, including but not limited to compiling catalogues, preparing presentations, proofreading copy and supporting the publicity team with information and material needed
- Review new submissions
- Provide secretarial support to the general manager
- Answer and channel telephone calls efficiently to the correct people; greet visitors
- Handle bookings for meeting rooms and sign for goods received
- Assist with frontline administrative duties, including but not limited to preparing courier parcels
What You’ll Need to Apply:
- A tertiary qualification in Journalism, Languages (English and or any of indigenous languages), Publishing or related.
- Excellent written and verbal skills in English and a basic proficiency in Afrikaans, with a focus on verbal skills
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Power Point) and experience using artificial intelligence (AI)
